Tattooed rapper Don Zio P had only middling aspirations to make music in
his early days. After a failed attempt at making an original song, he
quickly gave up and went about life. Following a wild trip to Montreal
in 2016 that he documented in depth and shared on social media outlets,
however, he began getting attention for his partying, antics, and
charisma. As he put it in an interview, people started saying he looked
like a rapper, so maybe it was time to be a rapper. He quickly produced
the dreamy cloud-rap banger "Dunk on Yo Bitch" and its accompanying pool
party video in March of 2017, and the song spread quickly, followed
shortly by interest from labels. Universal subsidiary Republic signed
Don Zio P on the strength of his single and he began work on follow-up
tracks like "Switch" and "Six 4," all of which were planned for wider
release on the six-song EP No Average Joe, slated for release in late
2017. In the meantime, he guested on the Brittney Crush single "You and
I."
